Cause & Cure

Fuel and friction are the main causes of combustion engines projecting high amounts of heat. The Big V Twin engines generate such heat leading to shortened engine longevity as well as discomfort to the rider.

THE CAUSE

Let’s analyze the 2007 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic V Twin in totality to discover such engine effects and where all the heat  is coming from.

Engine size:96 ci air cooled engine
Type: V Twin
Engine stroke: 4
Cylinders: 2
Compression ratio: 9.2:1
Bore x stroke: 3.75 in. / 4.38 in.
Engine torque: 92.60 ft lbs @ 3500 rpm
Weight: 864 lbs running weight

Where is all this heat coming from:

Two Choices

To add additional cooling to the engine we basically have 2 choices.
Add a external fan system of some type. One of the problems is there is not a lot of room. And which direction will all that heat be directed

Add a oil cooling system to maintain the oil temperature. Maintain is the Key word here keep the oil temp in a range of heat. Don’t let it get hot in the first place.

Products on the Market now.

There are a lot of products on the market now that help reduce the heat

Control the Heat

Although they can help cool your oil, you don’t have any control when. It works when you don’t need it…. and doesn’t

work when you do need it !

THE CURE

The Perfect Oil Cooling System.

If you were going to build the perfect oil cooling system what would be some of the key components you would like to see?

  1. Fan assisted : Must work whether I’m moving or stuck in traffic

  2. Maintain oil  : Keep it in a perfect range

  3. Easy to install : 1-2 hours maximum

  4. High quality : Must be made to last

  5. Looks good : Should look like it came from the factory.

1. Fan Assisted

We will need a fan, something small and compact that can push alot of air.
It will need to be water and dust resistant. With a life span of 10,000 hours.
ANSWER :UltraCool

2. Maintain Oil Temperature

Our goal is to maintain your oil temperature. The way we do this is to let your engine get up to 210-220 to burn off the condensation in the crank cases. Then turn on the fan to drive the temperature down to 190 at that time the fan will turn off. As the temperature goes up to 220 the fan turns on. This is controlled by our custom made thermal switch.
ANSWER :UltraCool

3. Easy to Install

When I first started UltraCool the installation was 3-4 hours it was a laborious job but as time went on I found smarter ways to cut
down the Installation time. now the installation should be right about
1 ½ – 2 hours depends on how good of a wrench you are to.
ANSWER :UltraCool

4. Made to Last

This oil cooler should be built to last. Made from top quality materials. We use all stainless steel bolts and nylock nuts, The covers are made from top quality ABAS plastic it can take the rocks and debric of the road. Our custom made oil adapter is made from 6061 alumimum. Our fans are rated at IP 55(see our water test online) water resistant and dust proof, our thermal switch is rated at 100,00 cycles of service.
ANSWER:UltraCool

5. Looks Good

If it’s going on my bike it better look good. We have come up with the best design for a cooler we could. We have spent 100′s of hours of fitting, thinking and debating over what looks good. Due to limited space you don’t have many options. So air flow is the most important element in design and you have to work the looks into it, making it blend into the bike .This year we are going to offer UltraCool in chrome so you can stand out.
ANSWER:UltraCool

6. Product Price and Service

When I started this company I had 3 goals in mind.

To be the best at all 3

1. Offer the best oil cooling system ever made for a V-Twin engine.
2. The price should be fair
3. Excellent customer service
